Proactiv Acne Solutions

There are just as many theories on what causes acne as there are acne solutions on the market.  Although we may never know the cause for a specific occurrence of acne, by knowing what acne is we are better able to treat it.  According to the American Heritage Dictionary, acne is “An inflammatory disease of the sebaceous glands and hair follicles of the skin that is marked by the eruption of pimples or pustules, especially on the face.”  While we may be looking for ways to reduce or prevent acne, the more immediate need is to find acne treatments it once it is present.

Acne treatments run the gambit from topical acne solutions, to dietary modifications, to acne home remedies.  There are acne solutions to apply at night, in the morning and cleansing pads to use throughout the day in order to remove excess oils from the skin.  There are homemade acne solutions, natural acne solutions and an assortment of acne home remedies.  Some of the remedies call for things like cleansing the colon in order to detoxify the system.  Proponents of colon cleansing maintain that toxins that are not eliminated from the digestive tract on a regular basis eventually cause bacteria to spread throughout the body resulting in lesions or pustules on the skin.

When an acne occurrence is severe there is a potential that scarring will be present long after the pimples are gone.  There are many acne scar solutions that are said to reduce or eliminate the scar tissue altogether.   You may wish to consult with your dermatologist for an abrasion procedure.  This may work hand in hand with topical acne scar solutions that can reduce the scarring enough so that they are barely visible.

Of course we have all heard of Proactiv which is probably the best known of acne solutions.  However, there are a good many products on the market that may be just as effective.  Compare the active ingredients among several acne solutions and if you find a common denominator it is probably a safe bet.  For instance, consider nighttime sleep remedies.  Whether you buy a generic or name brand sleep aid, it will probably have diphenhydramine hydrochloride.  For most of us, taking the medication as directed enables us to get a good night’s sleep.  The same holds true for acne solutions.  If you find the same ingredients in several formulations, it must have produced positive results.

Sometimes it’s a matter of trial and error until you find something that works but if you persevere you have a good chance of being successful.  Always consult your dermatologist before you try any new acne solutions or take any supplements for the first time.
