Acne Scar Treatment

Acne is most common in young adults and pubescent teenagers. Nobody should use the same treatment for scars as someone else because they don’t work for everyone. While there is much controversy over exactly what causes acne there is no doubt about it that once you have it you want it GONE. No one is comfortable walking around with blemishes on his or her face, let alone young adults who are at their most vulnerable when it comes to social acceptance.

Because of this and because of the various causes of acne, there are many acne solutions out there and finding one that works for you may take some experimentation.

Solutions for Acne Removal

Some choices for treatments are topical. There are several different types of choices that you have, including:

  • Cleansers
  • Ointments
  • Creams
  • Astringents
  • Natural Remedies

Sometimes, blemishes are the result of clogged or dirty pores in the skin. By using the appropriate combination of cleansers and antibacterial ointments any infections might be cleared up relatively easily. Sometimes topical anti inflammatory ointments will also reduce the severity of the outbreak.

Product Choices & Information

Products from companies like Proactiv® have had a lot of good press in recent years. Jessica Simpson has been seen promoting these products on national television for those that care about that. Now we all know she was a paid spokesperson, but her teenage acne was well documented and her apparent cure was evidenced in her current photographs. She maintains that Proactiv® acne solutions helped her get rid of those ugly blemishes.

The Proactiv® system was also said to eliminate or reduce the facial scaring from advanced acne outbreaks. I am not going to claim that Proactiv® is the best acne scar treatment, simply because like I said before, there is no such thing. It may work wonders for some, while be useless for others. Most health food stores will carry a line of natural solutions that can work well. They will also offer books and pamphlets that detail home remedies for acne. Such stores will carry products to enable you to make your own home remedies for acne.

Stores like GNC™ are among the most popular proponents of treating acne with natural acne solutions. There are also many herbal apothecaries who have resources and acne remedies that you could investigate if you are seeking to treat your acne holistically.

If All Else Fails

Dermatologists are not cheap, nor are the prescriptions they write, especially when it comes to treating those persistent scars. Often times you will get stuck with choices that are a matter of trial and error. Remember, every visit to the doctor costs money and if you need several visits that can add up. I am not advocating you forgo doctors altogether, rather it might be wise to try some over the counter or holistic topical acne solutions first.

If these remedies don’t work and you need to see a doctor then you will not have lost much and you can also inform him of what you have unsuccessfully tried. Just be aware of the fact that not all the choices out there will work for everyone. A choice that your friend uses might not work as well as it does for you. Know that there are a multitude of products out there and it’s just a matter of finding what works for you.

  1. There are a million cures for acne and it seems like I’ve tried them all. Now I know I have to keep trying because there are a million more out there! We’re lucky to live with such technology.

  2. I know what you mean, Cora, I love my technology. I’ve got a gadget for every task! I’ve always wanted to know how to treat acne because unfortunately my whole family has suffered from it. I just didn’t know where to start. It’s really not that hard, though, you just have to use common sense and possibly prayer.

  3. I’m dealing with baby acne right now and it is definitely not pretty. My youngest son has it and I don’t understand it at all. It’s actually a common skin condition. Now I have more baby problems to worry about and a full time job.

  4. The best acne products are right under your nose. Start with simple ingredients like homemade masks or basic soap and water. You might be pleasantly surprised. I was, only after I spent all that money.

  5. I wish I could find acne remedies for sensitive skin. Is anyone familiar with one or has used one? If I could find one that’s effective and costs well, that would make my decade.

  6. An acne solution that scores for sensitive skin contains simple, gentle ingredients. Doesn’t take a brainiac to figure that out but I really ended up screwing up my skin because I didn’t pay attention to the harsh ingredients.
